The UX Glossary ofUX-Republic brings together definitions of terms related to the field of user experience (UX). The content of the glossary will evolve over time.
User Experience (UX): It is the result and feeling of the user during manipulation (temporary or recurring use) of a functional object or a man-machine interface. The person in charge of optimizing this experience is called a UX Designer.
Wireframes: These are wireframe diagrams defining the elements present within an interface.
User testing: A method of evaluating a product by having it tested by users and then identifying elements that may cause problems and require modification.
Persona: A persona is an imaginary character representing a target group in the development of a new product or service. The persona generally has a first name and social and psychological characteristics. Several personas can be used for the same project.
Scenario: The scenario describes in detail what users do on an interface and more precisely why and how they do it.
Affordability: Affordance is the ability of a system or object (virtual or real) to suggest its own use.
Hick's law: Hick's Law describes how long it takes a user to make a decision based on the number of choices available to them.
Fitts' law: Fitts' Law is a model that predicts the time required to move quickly from a starting position to a final destination area, depending on the distance to the target and the size of the target.

Gestalt theory:

Law of proximity: Coming from the Gestalt theory, this law teaches us that the human brain assembles elements that are physically close. The law of proximity therefore encourages bringing together on the same page elements with a similar function.

Law of similarity: The law of similarity goes beyond the law of proximity by telling us that our brain also associates things that are alike. Two shapes with a similar color and shape should provide the same kind of functionality.

Law of continuity: The law of continuity tells us that the brain will try to close the empty lines and will thus create a circle and a solid rectangle.
