An article filled with bad faith
Microsoft unveiled the Windows 10 overview video, transporting me to many conflicting mindsets.
Here is that video:
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ngnzY5xtI8&w=600]
1. Windows 10 comes after Windows 8.1, but what happened to Windows 9?
Ah yes it's true, Microsoft has decided to distance itself from Windows 8... And marketing has taken this decision literally by jumping from 8 to 10.
2. I can't wait to see what's next.
Windows being capable of the worst (how-old.net) like the best (HoloLense)
3. It's weird, they didn't play sound?
Oh no, apparently they just can't create a player that plays the sound directly.
4. Small tackle for users from the first seconds:
“We gave you the start menu because you never managed to part with it! ».
5. Do private things… If you know what I mean…
6. Wow, this loader seriously competes with the google loader.
Maybe I'll buy myself a surface.
7. Microsoft is still trying to sell us Cortana?
Until she has the voice of Scarlett Johansson in Her, I'm not sure that really interests me.
8. Passion flowers…
I've always had a soft spot for bogus examples in Microsoft ads.
For example when we are told how to use private browsing to make a "gift to his darling":
9. A search field to find my files?
It's revolutionary! Quick, my credit card.
10. Oh what a bad idea!
Scribble on a web page with an MS Paint marker… A nice feature that must have made developers sweat and will never be used.
Someone forgot the 80/20 UX rule. It reminds me all those useless Galaxy Note features
11. “Do unexpected things”
No thank you, let's just do it right.
12. And hop, a little knee to Apple:
“We have made PCs that allow you to play video games”. On the other hand, Minecraft is not the most convincing example of graphics card power.
13. Is it me or the game won't launch in full screen?
14. YES! That's it, Windows 10 is the latest Windows.
And victory: Updates will be free.
15. Apparently, we completely forgot about the Metro interface.
16. Well, it's still not ugly and it looks pretty well done...
17. But, although there are fans at UX-REPUBLIC, I still remain in the clan of Macs
Finally, this video passes very quickly on the functionalities, shows only few novelties but reassures the users on the fact that they will not be totally out of place.
In this regard, we note the total disappearance of the Metro interface. The latter's applications are launched directly from the desktop interface.
The video goes by very quickly Microsoft's new browser which will coexist with IE in general confusion.
We also note that following the public outcry, Windows returns the start button to its users.
But the main announcement is still the abandonment of software versions. There will be only one Windows that will update as it goes. A method that has been popular lately by the biggest, starting with Adobe, which even offers its products by subscription.
