UX Day #16

It was already the 16th edition of UX-Day…

The 16th…

…Small reminder shot: What is a UX-Day?
It's quite simply one day a month, where all the UX-Republic consultants meet to share their experiences, their expertise and their good humor through presentations, workshops and an exhibition!
Myriam Breton in charge of the organization of this day opened the UX-Day under the colors of Tahiti (paradise island where she has just stayed) by announcing the program of the day to all of our UX-Republicans .

Offline mobility

Then it was the turn of Baptiste Demarest, UX-Evangelist @UXRepublic to tell us about the offline mobility, an important subject in UX which nevertheless seems neglected with regard to certain examples presented by Baptiste.
Others have nevertheless understood it very well and integrated it into their design strategy. Baptiste shares his tips and good examples to follow so as not to lose and disappoint the offline user.

WEB PSTN

Hugo Crampont, UX-Scientist @UXRepublic (front-end developer) then intervened on WEB RTC (Real time communication): All web standards that integrate communication devices audio, video et date so-called 'real time' and available natively on web browsers.
These inexpensive and quick-to-implement devices can be very useful for peer-to-peer data exchange, and communicate via livechat (as we saw in Hugo's demo).

UX made in China

For the 3rd presentation, Estelle Garcet UX-Evangelist @UXRepublic (UX-Designer) took us to China where she discusses Chinese UX differences and standards.
Estelle had the opportunity to work on international projects where the issue of national culture was important to study in order to offer an interface corresponding to the needs and habits of foreign users.
Beyond the current translation of content on a site, Estelle sought to analyze popular Chinese sites and understand their key success factors. The colors, the hierarchy of content, the product data are all elements that must be adapted to the country of the consumers.

Immersive technologies

Jérôme Fiorese, UI Designer @UXRepublic took an interest in all the immersive technologies on the way to revolutionizing uses and which are currently being talked about a lot.
There is in particular virtual and augmented reality, which are two different and very promising technologies in the world of games, architecture or medicine.
Which actor will switch these immersive technologies towards general public use?

After the theory discussed by Jérôme and Hervé Loreau, Innovation Director at Figaro Classifieds… Time for practice for our UX-Republicans who were able to test different tools such as oculus rifts, or cardboard boxes (but still need to be able to mount them …).

Convinced by these new technologies? What do you think ? Do not hesitate to give us your opinion by leaving a comment.

After a well-deserved lunch break, we started our afternoon with two different workshops, both very interesting and very well animated.

The agile method

UXDAY18Kaouthar Zouari and Quentin Bouissou introduced us the agile method, the objectives, the functioning and the roles of each of the participants in a very clear and playful way.
Then they offered us a short set of questions about this method, covering how task boards work:

  • The questions to answer,
  • Those whose responses are pending,
  • The correct and finished ones.

The second workshop was dedicated to After effect software and led by Wendy Berton (DA @UXRepublic), Laetitia Sainte Croix (DA @UXrepublic) and Remi Taieb (UX Lead @UXRepublic).
The objective of this workshop was to achieve simple animations linked to Marvelapp and to create wireframes and interactive models.
These more or less advanced animations allow artistic directors to better communicate on the rendering of their ideas by presenting directly to customers and developers a dynamic and animated interface.

The catacombs and some glasses

The day ended after a visit to the catacombs of Paris and a few drinks in a Parisian bar where all of our consultants were able to meet and share a moment together... The proof in pictures...
