GPT Image 2: The knockout punch the designers were waiting for

I tested GPT Image 2 on a real-world, demanding case. What I discovered forced me to rethink my approach to the initial phases of a project.

A full-scale test: a Red Bull brand kit from scratch

To gauge what the model was truly capable of, I gave him a direct brief: “Create a polished multi-page brand kit for Red Bull”.

The result wasn't just a generated image. It was a structured document, with consistent graphics across all pages, well-chosen colors, and a clear information hierarchy that was easy to grasp at a glance. The kind of deliverable you can confidently present at a concept meeting.

What struck me was that the model didn't just stop at “to look pretty”He grasped the logic of a visual system Logo, typography, color palette, layout. Everything fit together.

What GPT Image 2 can do that others don't

Previous versions generated isolated visuals, often stunning, but rarely usable as is. GPT Image 2 changes the scale of what is possible.

Branding & Design systems

You can generate multi-page brand books with real consistency between the elements. It's no longer a starting point for redesigning everything, but a solid foundation for your work.

UI & web mockups

Complex interfaces, dashboards, application structures: the model respects the codes of ergonomics without needing step-by-step guidance.

Campaigns and packaging

Visualizing packaging in 3D or composing a campaign visual with a layout already designed for impact — is now possible in a few prompts.

The end of the ghost text

One of the historical sticking points in image generation was text. The result was approximate characters, a semblance of a word, a typography that “created an illusion” from a distance but didn't care about the exam.

GPT Image 2 solves this problem. The generated text is readable, typographically consistent, and hierarchically organized. We can finally judge a layout for what it is, without making the mental effort of "translate" what we see.

“The role of the designer will shift from maker to curator.” — John Maeda, Design Partner at Publicis Sapient

This quote takes on a very concrete meaning with this model.

What this changes for us, designers

It's not a tool that replaces the designer. It's a tool that shifts our energy towards what really matters.

  1. Explore without friction

Testing ten artistic directions in one morning is no longer a question of budget or time. Exploration becomes a work habit, not a luxury.

  1. Moving from doing to leading

The designer's added value shifts from technical execution to creative judgment: choosing, refining, guiding, and challenging the result. A role of artistic director fully integrated, from the ideation phase onwards.

  1. Never again start from a blank page

The starting point is so well-developed that it forces you to aim high from the very first minutes. It's uncomfortable — and stimulating.

To conclude

GPT Image 2 significantly reduces the distance between an idea and its visual realization. For designers who adopt it, it's a way to work faster, more freely, and with a higher level of expectation from the outset.

The question is no longer “Is this tool good enough?”. She is : How do I integrate it into my process right now?
