Last night at Grand Rex, I attended Scheme 2025, the great annual gathering of Figma.
And honestly, you can feel that something is changing…
The Design System as we knew it becomes more flexible, more intelligent, and above all more
connected.
Here's what I take away from it:
-
Extended Collections:
Major changes on the organizational side.
On extensive collections finally allow for easier management of the multi-brand systems and
complex variants.
This is a real relief for those who are working on several visual identities in parallel.
-
Slots
This feature is definitely going to generate a lot of buzz.
Thanks to Slotswe can now insert content directly into a componentWithout
neither its Atomic structure nor the Design System behind it can be broken.
Basically, no more fixed variations: everything becomes much more fluid and customizable.
-
Design Check
AI is becoming increasingly tangible.
Design Check It allows you to thoroughly examine your design. You click on your component, and Figma
Real-time analysis:
- la typo
- many spacings
- la visual hierarchy
- la consistency with your Design System
- and even accessibility
A true assistant for spotting details that are often missed after hours of work.
-
Figma Make & Make Kits
With Figma MakeWe're reaching a new level. You can connect your Design System library to AI so that it understands your visual language and helps you generate new components in the right tone.
On Make KitsThey serve as a ready-to-use starting point: you adapt them, you enrich them, and you save a ton of time.
-
Code Connect
On the development side, Code Connect has also been redesigned.
The objective is clear: to streamline communication between design and code. Developers can directly see how a component is built, without wasting time searching for documentation or comparing versions.
-
Extended Modes & Libraries
Finally, the new modes and expanded libraries make the management of states, collections and themes Much simpler. A real step forward for teams managing large-scale products.
The phrase that sums up the evening perfectly:
"The role of Design Systems is expanding. "
And that's true.
We are no longer talking about a simple component catalog, but a living ecosystemcapable of
to verify, to adapt, and to learn from AI.
Figma is no longer just a design tool.
It's becoming a a true creative partner, a copilot who helps you build better and
faster, without losing your intention.
